Scary First Steps

Well yesterday was the day....where we finally bought a house. I must say it is a bit scary knowing that we have this daunting commitment to a dwelling to keep but I am choosing to focus on the good things... like choosing paint colors! My husband would just laugh at me because he really doesn't care to much for paint colors and furniture arrangements except in the TV room.

So let me tell you a little about our new home sweet home.... It is a 1 1/2 storey built sometime in the 1950's. It has only been owned by the original owner so far (until us). It has lots of curb appeal and a good sized lot with parking for 2-3 cars and two large maple trees. It also has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (full baths), a living room, dining room, kitchen, family room/TV room, rec room, laundry room, lots of storage and a workshop (which the hubby is thrilled about).

Even though we just finished signing the papers yesterday we take possession in 2 weeks so we don't have long to adjust to being home owners instead of home renters. Tomorrow we go hunting for painting and hardwood refinishing supplies as those are the first tasks on the list.

The list of things we need to do shortly after moving in is
Refinish hardwood floors in living room
Refinish hardwood floors in dining room
Refinish hardwood floors in main floor bedroom (we call it the office)
Refinish hardwood floors in upstairs large bedroom (our master bedroom)
Paint TV room
Paint Dining room
Paint office
Prep Master Bedroom -remove wallpaper border
                                    - remove built in desk
                                    - touch up and repair walls (if required)
Paint Master Bedroom
Paint Cabinets in Kitchen
Buy new fridge and stove
Install new fridge & stove
Refinish Gas Fireplace
Paint all trim/moldings in house white
Sew some curtains

and by the time we are close to finished this.... we have to put up Christmas lights.

So off starts the adventure tomorrow. I have some ideas of inspiration which I may post or maybe you'll have to wait and only see our before and after photos.... can't decide yet.
